Support Group for Runners

We're excited about this new offering at Steady State! We're bringing in Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Alexis Wilbert, Psy.D. to lead a support group!

Alexis is a competitive runner herself and her areas of clinical expertise include: anxiety, negative body image, disordered eating, compulsive exercise.

You can learn more about Alexis Wilbert, Psy.D. here. And if you think you could benefit from working with her but the thought of meeting with a small group is not appealing to you, she also does individual sessions.

We do need at least 3 people to participate in order to continue to offer this service, so if you're hesitant, or nervous to join, don't be! Or bring a friend!

We hope you take advantage of this amazing service!!

Friday Morning Hills

When: Every Friday morning at 7am*

Where: at Steady State @ 24 Romasco Ln Portland ME 04101

What: A group run with hill repeats (easy or hard) followed by coffee, occasional baked goods, hanging with friends, and recovery tools. Typically wrapping up by 8-8:30am.

The group photo is promptly at 7:07 am - we then leave together from Steady State.

We start with a ~1.25 mile warmup: take a right out of Steady State,  turn left up Commercial to the top of the hill, turn left onto North St, go all the way down North St, take a right onto the Eastern Prom and follow this to Turner St.

We typically do the hill repeats on Turner St, but occasionally switch it up to another nearby hill.

We wait at the bottom of Turner for everyone to finish the warmup, then collectively start the hills. We typically go up and down for 10-20 minutes, then meet at the bottom of the hill to all run back up it one more time together on our way back to Steady State.

Be sure to stick around for free coffee, occasional baked goods, chatting, and stretching/recovery.

*We occasionally do a Friday NIGHT Hills (at 6pm). We do NOT do Friday Morning Hills on these days. We'll try to keep this updated here, but it's best to follow us on Instagram to be sure!

Saturday Long Runs

When: Every Saturday morning at 7am

Where: at Steady State @ 24 Romasco Ln Portland ME 04101

What: Get your weekend started with a 1-2+ hour long run!* Followed by coffee, occasional baked goods, hanging with friends, and recovery tools. Typically wrapping up by ~9am.

Everyone is welcome but we will divide up according to paces - see our Pace Sign Up List. Some people go long and easy, and some occasionally have some uptempo work within their long run.

Show up with a plan or join someone else’s! We want this group run to be all inclusive, which means there will be numerous paces. If you’re worried about running alone, check out our Pace Sign Up List beforehand and/or bring a friend of similar speed.

The start and end will be the same each run, so even if you end up running alone, the company before/after will help get ya out of bed to start the weekend on a positive note!

The route will vary: Back Cove loops, out-and-back on Rt 1/88, out-and-back towards Bug Light State Park.

We’ll start just a bit after 7AM, and most people will be running for 1-2 hours. Stick around for a bit after at Steady State if you’d like for coffee & company & recovery!

*We will be locking the clinic during the run, for a minimum of 60 mins. Please plan accordingly!
