Maine Distance Running
Whether you’re training for Beach to Beacon, building back from injury, or chasing your next PR, Steady State Health is here for Maine’s running community.
Based in Portland and serving runners across the state—and virtually—we specialize in helping distance runners stay healthy, train smart, and go further without pain. From the Back Cove to the Eastern Trail, from Sugarloaf to the Maine Marathon, we’ve helped runners across all levels find their steady state.

What We Do
Our team helps distance runners with:
-
Running injury rehab (Achilles, plantar fasciitis, knee pain, stress injuries, and more)
-
Return-to-run programming and mileage rebuilds
-
Gait analysis and movement assessments
-
Strength coaching tailored to runners
-
Virtual coaching and check-ins
-
Injury prevention & performance tune-ups
Our Running Philosophy
At Steady State, we take an optimistic approach to running. We never tell someone that they should just stop running.
We believe recovery isn’t about going back to where you were - it’s about building beyond it. That’s true whether you’re dealing with a new injury, a recurring issue, or just looking to train smarter this season.
We take a load management-first approach to recovery, always looking at the full picture: strength, mechanics, mileage, sleep, stress, and fueling. Our guide to the running injury continuum helps runners understand when it’s okay to train through pain—and when it’s not.
And when it comes to shoes? We don’t force you into a category. Here’s how we think about running shoe selection and why comfort matters more than pronation.

Who We Work With
We support runners across Maine - whether you're...
-

-
Coming back from a setback or building mileage smarter
-
Competing for age-group wins or just running for joy
From high school cross country runners to sub-elite marathoners to newer runners or weekend warriors, we help runners build strength and confidence in their bodies.
